When Substack Notes rolled out, I used it to post some fun micro stories to get the creativity flowing. I had no intention of developing the ideas further, but then I wrote about an enchanting little town that piqued my interest, and I knew I had to write more about it! That’s why I decided to start a separate newsletter to house my
flash fiction. I refer to them as ‘connected vignettes’ because you can read the stories in any order and still understand what’s going on. I have four stories up already, and a new one will be posted this weekend. The genre is slice-of-life with a dash of magical realism. Other words to describe my tales: old-fashioned, imaginative, quaint, cozy, whimsical, and joyful. From the summary: Welcome to Twelve Springs, where starry white flowers bloom for only one night on midsummer eve… where the song of a nightingale inspires all who hear it… where a sacred well grants a wish once every blue moon. People often wonder, ‘Who is responsible for such abundance?’ If you ask the townsfolk, they’ll tell you about the goddess who lives in the wild woods – the one who can take the shape of a nightingale or a salmon or a deer… the goddess who can even, on occasion, appear as an ethereal woman by moonlight.
If that sounds like your cup of tea, please join me in Twelve Springs! Hope to see you there 😊
I'm excited for this! I just subscribed.
