I didn’t read the original version until I was an adult either, so don’t be embarrassed! I do remember watching a Snow Queen cartoon as a child though… I wonder if it’s on YouTube? I’ll try to find it!
I’m not generally a fan of H.C. Andersen’s tales (they’re sooo sad), but this is one of my all-time favorite fairytales, period. Thanks for sharing; I look forward to reading along!
Yes, they are sad! I’m kinda thankful I never read his stories as a child because I would have been traumatized by some of them :( The Snow Queen is definitely his best — and I’m glad you agree, too!
This is one of my favorites, if not my favorite fairy tale. Reading along at work—oops! I can’t help it. ❄️😊 Thanks for posting. And you can’t beat Dulac’s illustrations. Beautiful!
Jan, I’m so glad you could take a short break to read an old favorite! (and don’t worry - no one will tell your boss haha ;) Yes, I love Dulac’s style! I am going to make a point this year to read all the stories he illustrated!
I’m embarrassed to say I had never read this before! So glad you’re sharing it with us, and I’m excited to read what happens next. 😊

That’s a great idea. A really fun way to create a reading list!
Symbolism...mirror=vanity? Perceptions and world view influenced through the distorted view of the beholder. Maybe too deep?
